A Beautiful Mornin' Awaits KelownaThe Kelowna Actors Studio Presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's Classic Musical
Many musical theatre fans consider Oklahoma! one of the best musicals of all time, and the Okanagan Valley will get the chance to decide for themselves on November 16th.
Oklahoma! was one of many collaborations between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, and they are one of the most prolific song writing teams in musical history. You probably know some of their other work - The Sound Of Music, The King & I, Carousel, and South Pacific, to name a few. Their shows are etched into the minds of a generation of musical theatre lovers, and as of November 16th, the city of Kelowna will finally play host to Curly, Laurey, Jud, and Aunt Eller. Starring Kelowna Actors Studio Artistic Director Randy Leslie as Curly, and Dorothy Marshall-Neufeld as Laurey, Oklahoma! tells the story of a high spirited rivalry in Oklahoma between the local farmers and cowboys where Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, live and eventually fall in love. Oklahoma! includes the legendary hits: "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," "Surrey With the Fringe on Top," "People Will Say We’re in Love", " Kansas City" and the show stopping title anthem. Joining Leslie and Marshall-Neufeld is a cast of 33 including Shannon Furney (Ado Annie), Cormac Eby (Will Parker), Vivian Hughes (Aunt Eller), Ron Green (Andrew Carnes), Brad Hull (Jud Fry) and James Long (Ali Hakim). The production will be directed, choreographed and produced by Actors Studio main stay Nathan Flavel, and musical directed by Neville Bowman. The Kelowna Actors Studio production of Oklahoma! opens on November 16th, running until December 3rd, 2006, and ticket information can be found on the Kelowna Actors Studio Website.
