A Tale As Old As TimeMagical Holiday Musical Set To Open In London, Ontario
Disney's Beauty And The Beast, a hit family musical still running on Broadway, will return to Southern Ontario in November at the Grand Theatre.
Beauty And The Beast, which opened on March 9th, 1996 in New York City to rave reviews, has been enjoying a second life in regional productions across North America. The show, written by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, is a sure fire hit for family audiences, and has proven to be a hit with fans of a big, lavish musical. Featuring the songs "Home", "No Matter What" and the toe tapping "Be Our Guest", the production has musical numbers that will touch your heart and make you smile. According to the press release, "This charming story captures magic and romance through a tale of spells, enchanted castles and evil plots. A frustrated prince is trying to escape a potentially lifelong evil spell and a misunderstood beautiful young woman is seeking a more fulfilling existence. Her quest for truth and beauty encounters magical characters, a cursed beast seeking true love and perilous predicaments as she develops a bond with other ‘outcasts’. Inner beauty reveals true love and eventually rewards a Prince and his Beauty, who live happily ever after." The cast includes Patrick R. Brown as Cogsworth, Ric Brown as Ensemble, Karen Coughlin as Belle, Carly Fielding as Silly Girl, Neil Foster as Lumiere, Mark Harapiak as Gaston, Gabrielle Jones as Mrs. Potts, Julia Juhas as Silly Girl, Adele MacKenzie as Enchantress, Brett McCaig as Monsieur D’Arque, Chad McFadden as Ensemble, Marcus Nance as Beast, Kara Purdy as Silly Girl, Joshua Rosedale as Chip, Sal Scozzari as LeFou, Jason Sermonia as Ensemble, Julius Sermonia as Ensemble, Sarah Slywchuk as Babette, Marcia Tratt as Madame de la Grande Bouche, William Vickers as Maurice. The production is directed by Susan Ferley, musical directed by Andrew Petrasiunas, and choreographed by Gino Berti. The set design is by John Dinning, with costume design by Judith Bowden.
