It's easy to see why the Arts Club Theatre Company is Vancouver's largest and most popular theatre company.

For their 46th season, Artistic Managing Director Bill Millerd has announced 12 new productions that will play at three venues, and a remount of a holiday hit as part of the 2009/2010 season.

Millerd announced the season on the heels of the beginning of the largest show the company has ever taken on - Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Les Misérables, which has now opened at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage to rave reviews and countless sold-out performances.

For the 2009/2010 season, Millerd announced four premieres, including Mrs. Dexter and her Daily by Joanna McLelland Glass, which will star Nicola Cavendish and Fiona Reid, Tear the Curtain! by the Electric Theatre Company, and Paradise Garden by Vancouver playwright Lucia Frangione. The Arts Club will present the Vancouver premiere of Irving Berlin's White Christmas: The Musical in November at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage.

As well, Eric McCormack of TV's Will & Grace will return to the Arts Club Theatre Company as part of the July 2010 production of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage.

Executive Director Howard Jang said, “Our audiences and especially our subscriber base has been growing for the last decade, establishing the Arts Club as the highest-attended theatre company in Western Canada. For next season, Bill has put together a playbill for all to enjoy, savour, and be entertained.”

Bill Millerd said, “There is much to be excited about in this lineup but highlights for me are the world premiere of Electric Company's Tear the Curtain! on the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, which will be an exciting part of the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, and is a direct result of our Silver Commissions Project. Second, the return to the New Revue Stage gives the Arts Club more opportunities to produce new plays from local playwrights. I would especially like to thank the Vancouver Foundation for giving us extraordinary support to help us make our transition back to the New Revue Stage.”
