Carver Returns To Toronto Stage

Tony-Award Winning Actor To Perform in New Musical

Brent Carver has had a long and successful career, with few stumbling blocks. That is, until he created the role of Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings.

When The Lord Of The Ringsclosed after only 7 months, many in the theatre community wondered what exactly would be next for Brent Carver - after all, he is a Tony Award Winning actor, and Canada's musical theatre sweetheart (although he may share that distinction now with Louise Pitre) and now we know. He has been welcomed back to CanStage in the World Premiere Production of Neil Bartram and Brian Hill's new musical The Story Of My Life.

Joining Carver will be Jeffrey Kuhn, known to theatre audiences in Toronto for his work in Ragtime and The Who's Tommy, but may be better known for his work in the recent revival of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins.

According to CanStage, "Alvin and Thomas met in Grade One (played by Kuhn and Carver, respectively). They shared the battlefields of childhood and adolescence, inseparable until one moved to the big city and their lives took different directions. The Story of My Life is a tender, musical celebration of lifelong friends and the power of a friendship that can tie two people together forever, no matter where they are."

The show will be directed by the Manhattan Theatre Club's Michael Bush, with musical direction by Marek Norman (CanStage's Larry's Party Composer).

Neil Bartram and Brian Hill were two of the original cast members of Toronto's hit production of Forever Plaid, but have joined forces now to become an up and coming writing and composing duo. CanStage has presented a workshop production of another Bartram/Hill collaboration, entitled Not Wanted On The Voyage.

The Story Of My Life begins performances November 2nd, 2006 at CanStage's main theatre, the St. Lawrence Centre For The Arts, and runs until December 9th.
