In 2004, it was announced that William Hutt would be making his final appearance with the Stratford Festival in The Tempest in 2005.
Fast forward two years, and it has now been announced that Hutt will be a part of Richard Monette's final season as Artistic Director at the Festival, appearing opposite Martha Henry in Edward Albee's classic, A Delicate Balance. The play will be directed by Diane LeBlanc. It will be performed on the thrust stage of the Tom Patterson Theatre. The play originally opened in 1966, four years after Albee's hit play Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, and both of these plays deal with the same themes of loss, missed opportunity, and dysfunctional families. A Delicate Balance won Albee the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, which he won again in 1975 for his play Seascape. The official season will be announced shortly.
