The Genie ReturnsThe Hit Christmas Pantomime Aladdin Returns To The Elgin Theatre
A poor young sk8r boy. A fresh princess. A hip hop land, and a magic carpet ride. What do all of these things add up to? A hit Christmas show.
Ross Petty and his production company have given audiences across Canada over the past 10 years. Last Christmas, Snow White And The Group Of Seven, starring Glass Tiger's Alan Frew and several finalists from previous seasons of Canadian Idol made up the cast, and it proved to be a gigantic hit. This Christmas though, Petty is turning back to another hit show that will take them across the country before settling back into their home base of Toronto for the holiday season. Aladdin has been produced by Petty Productions twice before, in 1998 and 2004. The production that will play this year is a re-mount of the 2004 production, starring Bret "Hitman" Hart, Petty, Derek McGrath, Jennifer Dale, and Jamie McKnight, who is taking over the lead role from Adam Brazier. Directed by Ted Dykstra (Snow White And The Group Of Seven, Hedwig and The Angry Inch), Aladdin will have Rick Fox (The Lord Of The Rings) leading the orchestra, with Tracey Flye re-creating her original choreography. David Finley is the writer of the Pantomime. Aladdin will play the Elgin Theatre in Toronto, as well as touring stops to Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary and Ottawa.
