News about We Will Rock You, Gone With The Wind closing, Kim Cattrall at the Stratford Festival and the Flower City Theatre Festival preview.
We Will Rock You Has New Life At Panasonic Theatre In Toronto Mirvish Productions has announced that We Will Rock You, the Ben Elton/Queen musical that has been a smash hit in Toronto since opening in March 2007, has shut its doors at the Canon Theatre, but will re-open in July at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto. The Panasonic Theatre, formally home to the Blue Man Group, will house the show for what is to be expected an open-ended run. The cast will remain the same from the run at the Canon. Gone With The Wind Will Close Early Trevor Nunn’s latest venture, a stage adaptation of Gone With The Wind, will close after only 79 performances, and a slew of bad reviews and problems. In a statement, producer Aldo Scrofani said, "From the beginning of our journey we have all worked hard to achieve the realisation of putting Margaret Mitchell's classic novel, Gone with the Wind, on stage at the New London Theatre. Despite the critical response the Company have enjoyed much praise from audience members during our run and for that we are grateful, nevertheless we have made the difficult decision to close the production. Plans for a New York production are currently on hold but in the meantime we are pursuing various options that have been presented to us from interested parties worldwide." The musical closes on June 14, 2008. It stars Darius Danesh as Rhett Butler and Jill Paice as Scarlet O’Hara. Kim Cattrall – From Sex & The City To Queen Of The Nile?Rumours have been flying that Kim Cattrall, star of Sex & The City, will return to her stage roots next season at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival as Cleopatra in William Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. While nothing is confirmed, it is said that negotiations are ongoing. For information on the current season at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, click on The Festival website.
