Vigils To Premiere At GoodmanNew Noah Haidle Play Opens October 24th
Noah Haidle, known for his play Mr. Marmalade, will have his new play Vigils premiered at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago next month.
According to the Goodman, Vigils is a fantasy play that takes place "two years after a fireman died trying to save a baby from a burning home, his widow is clinging to the past-literally. She has trapped her husband's soul in a box, and his body is wandering around aimlessly, ricocheting from one memory to the next, as body and soul try to come to terms with their actions during his life. When a handsome wooer arrives on the scene, the widow must decide between the past she knows and a future that she can only imagine." The cast includes Johanna Day, known for her Tony Award Nominated performance in Proof, Marc Grapey, Steve Key and Coburn Goss. Vigils is directed by Kate Whoriskey, who is known to Goodman Theatre audiences for her direction of Regina Taylor's Drowning Crow, The Rose Tattoo and Heartbreak House. Noah Haidle's Mr. Marmalade played at the Roundabout Theatre in New York City in the 2005-2006 season. Vigils begins performances October 14th, and runs until November 12th.
